About Camera 2
Camera 2 looks out onto St Giles. The Victorian gothic Randolph Hotel is to the left, facing Beaumont Street, the neoclassical Taylor Institution (part of the Bodleian Library) is directly in front, facing St Giles and the OII. The Ashmolean Museum is just behind the Taylorian. A good time to check in is during the famous St Giles Fair, which will be held this year on 8 - 9 September 2014. Established in 1200, it's unusual for an English fair, being held in a major street of a city and completely blocking traffic (and the OII) for its two-day duration. See the Oxford History: St Giles website for many strange old things to do with St Giles, including old photographs and accounts of the fair, and a general history of pretty much every object and building on St Giles, including No. 1 St Giles: the Oxford Internet Institute.
We are aware of a recent flash update for Mac which appears to cause some issues; On 10.6.3 upwards, .h264 encoded streams over RTMP appear to fail. Chrome has its own version of Flash, which appears unaffected, but for Firefox/Safari, you may wish to try the following: (we appreciate this is a quick fix, and not a solution!)
- Right click (control click) on the main player window, and select 'settings'
- Ensure the 'display' tab is selected (bottom left of the dialog window)
- Untick 'Enable Hardware Acceleration' and click close.
- Reload the page
